When in doubt, go to the library is the motto that Hermione Granger, from the Harry Potter books, lives by. Unfortunately, the libraries on Newport Beach real estate are closed for the rest of the month. However, you can still do curbside pick up of materials on hold. One of the great things about the 21st century is how much we have access to, via our phones and computers. Even if you can’t get to your branch for more books, you can go online and find tons of great apps and resources to use from the comfort of your Newport Beach home.
Explore the World from Your Newport Beach Home with E-Resources
All library card holders can use Overdrive on their phones or computers. Or download the Libby app on the phone. There are tons of ebooks available to download and read, as well as a large selection of audiobooks. The best part? No late fees! The books simply disappear at the end of the borrowing period. You’ll also find links to websites and apps that have ebooks and audiobooks available to download and keep for free. Most of these books are in the public domain, meaning that their copyright has expired.
For magazine lovers, the RBdigital and Flipster are for you. Use both on either a computer or smartphone. Many current magazines are on the programs for you to check out and read. You can find links to other databases of print media, like the Orange County Register, National Geographic, Consumer Reports, and several major newspapers.
Even if you don’t have a Netflix subscription, you can still enjoy streaming movies. Just use Kanopy or Overdrive. Due to increased demand, they might be experiencing outages, but they’re working on a fix.
Be sure to check out the many databases with information on a wide range of topics. Kids from Newport Beach real estate can explore tons of educational material if they’re home from school.
All these resources and more are available at the Newport Beach Library eBranch.
