It’s a true treat to view the ocean life near Newport Coast homes. The annual “Giant Blue Whale Migration” brings an added bonus to the area in the summer and early fall. Last summer/fall, more than 800 whales were viewed near Laguna and Newport Beach. Of these whales, 130 were giant blue whales. These whales used to be rare in this area, but that trend is changing and residents can view these majestic animals that reach up to 90 feet in length. These are the largest of all animals.

Those living in Newport Coast real estate are lucky because there is a marine sanctuary that covers more than 60 square miles off of Newport and Laguna Beach. This area provides a haven for marine creatures, which in turn makes for some great whale watching. In addition to whales, it’s common to see bottlenose dolphins.

To see the blue whales consider going on a Blue Whale Migration Summer Cruise. This special is going on from September 21st through October 31st, 2022. These cruises are offered by Newport Landing Whale Watching, which is located at 309 Palm St. Suite A in Newport Beach. The cost is $20 on weekdays or $24 on weekends. However, if you plan to go on a cruise between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., please add $10.50 to the ticket cost. This additional charge is due to reduced boat capacities and the costs of COVID protocols.

Newport Whale Watching offers many additional choices beyond this special. Everyone living in Newport Coast homes is invited to view all whale watching options and find more details about the Blue Whale Migration Summer Cruises here. Getting out on the water is a great way to explore the area and to experience the wonder of whales and other sea creatures.
