Held April 14th through 16th at the Huntington Beach Central Park Bandstand the festival is close to all those living in the Southern California Real Estate area. A celebration of Japanese culture blending with Japanese-American culture, this annual event brings together a spirt of community. Ranging from traditional to contemporary every aspect of this event uniquely blends together the past and present. From anime characters to classical dancing and origami there is something to please one and all attending.
The opening ceremony starts at 5 p.m. on Friday with an intense entertainment line up planned for the weekend. The showcase ranges from jazz to electronic to gagaku music and more. Friday and Saturday night’s Sakura Night Light Show is eagerly anticipated by everyone and is sure to light up the night sky. Sunday’s array of entertainment is just as satisfying.
In the Sakura Night Market, where Japanese Cuisine is front and center, the celebration is kicked up a notch. Here food trucks and other culinary vendors will be at the park serving up all kinds of delicious goodness.
The Orange County Cherry Blossom Festival offers free admission for the public to attend. The Huntington Beach Central Park Bandstand is located at 7111 Talbert Avenue. Free parking is available along Talbert Avenue and costs $1 in the sports complex. Be advised that this is a cashless event with vendors only accepting card transactions for goods and services. The Orange County Cherry Blossom Festival supports an international student exchange program between sister city Anjo, Japan and students living in Orange County Coastal homes and other nearby areas.
